MASTHEAD NUMBER 6: THE HMYC NEWSLETTER

4 February 2012

BOAT AND TRAILER PARKING:

To assist members with the parking of their equipment Hes Hamilton has taken on the responsibility of looking after the Parking Areas and Grounds and Thammi will report to Hes for these areas.

Hes can be contacted on 0722254230.

A review of the current status reveals that many boats and trailers occupying parking bays do not have their 2011/12 stickers attached, which makes it difficult to identify if boats/trailers are in their allocated bay.  We know there are boats and trailers that are not in the correct bay for one reason or another which again creates problems for those members who discover their bay has been commandeered.

Hes has requested that members assist his task of rectifying these problems by ensuring as soon as possible that their stickers are up to date and on their equipment – let him know if you need help to do this.  If a member’s bay has been occupied by someone else and we are unable to identify or contact the offending party, then the boat or trailer will be removed to the grassed area the other side of the car park boat shed.

In terms of good house-keeping, and in line with the rules, members are reminded that trailers and dinghies should not be left in the launching area.  The only dinghies allowed to be parked overnight, or longer, in the launching area are those which belong to those members who have a physical handicap, and they must ensure they have prior approval to do so.  In future, dinghies which are left in this area without approval, will be removed and put on the grassy area at the  end of the grounds.

We will be re-organising the work bays very soon to free up more bays for members and it will also be made easier to enter and exit the work area.  Please be reminded that if you wish to use a work bay this should be arranged through Heather Marshall or Hes so that members know the schedule and can organize repairs accordingly.

The parking area along the bank is for cars and although due to space problems it is OK to be used during sailing events on a day basis, it must not be used long term – i.e. more than 24 hours unless we have a special event or by prior approval.

Our objective is to make a visit to the Club a pleasant and enjoyable experience without members feeling oppressed by rules, but we are obliged to ensure an orderly and well organized environment in order to achieve this.  Any comments, suggestions, or assistance, please contact Hes.
