Introductory sailing course with Sail Africa

 Hello,

Please be reminded about our introductory sailing course that will be held on Sunday 6th and Sunday 13th February from 9-4pm.

At this level, students learn the basic theory and terms of boats and sailing, as well as becoming familar with sailing single and double-handed dinghies.

The Stage 1 is designed to introduce children to sailing. All participants will learn the basic skills for boat preparation, rope work and simple manouvres while afloat. By the end of this course, children will be have a basic understanding of how a boat sails, and some experience of steering and handling a boat.

Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and refreshments for the break.
Please also ensure they bring footwear that can be worn at all times as well as a change of clothes.

After this stage, the sailors move up to stages 2 and then 3.  Once they have completed a 2 level they can take part in our Supervised Sailing Sessions where they can sail independently in the bay, and once they have completed stage 3 they can start entering races (please see the attached flow diagram).
