First Round of Monthly Mug sailed

Hello all,

Excellent start to the season!!Brilliant weather and good winds making for perfect sailing conditions.Race officers Rob and Brenda set an interesting course involving 1 triangle and then a sausage making for great racing. The usual suspects were out Odin,Hybrid,Essex girl ,L26,minimum,Hirrondelle and Desiree.Adding to the mix was bad news  (current National champ) and Flirt now taken over by crew Kevin and his daughter.

Ist race started at 11.05. 4Top Hunters got off to a good start  with places swapping all the time until it was finally Hybrid just getting in ahead of essex  ,then Odin and Bad news .
2nd race saw Essex with the best start only to be told that they were miles over.So when going back unfortunately got in the way of the  silverbacks on odin. However typical Odin style they recovered to get a bullet over Hybrid. Then came in Bad news who were rather unfortunate to loose as they were in with a chance until their bag flopped into the water and had to be recovered from under the boat.(Van struggling to get grip of things on board a small boat!!)Thereafter essex after playing catch up with their prem start.
3rd race:Once again Essex with a prem start.(As if the first was not enough!!) this time Odin was not about to be messed up by them twice in a row and thus Essex was forced to sail up futher and wait to clear the fleet to return making them fall way behind the rest.Hybrid had the best start and was just about a mile ahead at the end !!So excellently sailed by them!!Bad news managed to pip Odin at the end  to come in second. Then Odin and Essex.

Nice to see Derek Wilkes out on  a first class seven .I need to update the rating for this boat to see how they fared in the monthly mug but they definately seemed quick!!

All and all a great day sailing in conditions that are hard to beat anywhere in the country!!Next up is a new one!!The Azalea cup mini regatta sailed in combo with a youth regatta.Camp the weekend!!Or sail only 1 day.Anyway try and join in !!

Wait  for results on monthly mug  I will have them out soon.Attached is GD and Silver fleet. Hybrid theory with Rob and Gregg were the definate stars of the day very impressive and sailing very quick !!!The old favourite Odin hot on the heals and then Bad News and Essex following.(Essex needs to start properly so we can actually give you guys a go at the front!!)

Commodore leading the Silver fleet over Louis at the moment!

Cheers
see ya all next time.
